The Whitewater Slalom Foundation was founded in the spring of 2009, in association with USA Canoe/Kayak, to help rejuvenate the sport of canoe and kayak slalom in the US.  This thrilling, demanding, complex sport is thriving on the international scene, yet struggling here in the United States.

Our mission:

"To promote and develop the sport of whitewater slalom in particular, and other whitewater or paddlesports events as appropriate, bringing their many joys and benefits—including environmental awareness, physical fitness, camaraderie, sportsmanship, fun, and the pursuit of excellence—to a widespread and diverse group of participants."

Three initiatives are already in place for 2009.

1. A National Ranking Series, complete with weekly updating on the web. Link directly to the National Ranking Series site; or, to read about it, click here.

2. A Regional Teams initiative, which proposes to fund Regional Junior, Sixteen-and-under, and Cadet teams.

3. An Under 23 Team Initiative, including a U23 team with uniforms, a coaching position, training camps, and an under-23 North American championship race.

Join us in broadening slalom's base in this country—and, in scaling the heights of international competition!
